up until recently, i would agree with that statement but the latest iteration of installs has you leasing out your rooftop in exchange for X-KW of electricity and the remainder returned to the grid. of course, there are contracts involved and if you sell you are either on the hook for the cost of the install and removal, or it's written into the sale for the new owner.
That sounds promising.
