Scaling back production does not mean it's not selling well or under projections at all. Consider the possibility that they've made enough and the warehouses are full enough to withstand the holiday onslaught, and now they can shift production lines to the more profitable 5s, or, to begin all those new products that are expected to be announced at the end of the month. Retina iPad minis and iPad 5 don't manufacture themselves.

News outlets jump on anything anti iPhone; don't put any stock in that. And ditto what DRR said above.

Most articles I've read claim 5c sales are off with orders decreased but 5s sales are up with orders for those increased which would seem to lend some credence to 5c prices being a bit too high and too close to a 5s price.
They are still assembling a phenomenal number of both phones.

If I were shopping for a 5C, I'd seriously consider looking for a 5 first.
I don't like the pastel colors.
