Shipment from Amazon opened on doorstep - PS4 thieves?
#1
UPS left an Amazon box on my front step today, which has never been a problem in my quiet, secluded cul-de-sac. Until today.

When my son got home from school he brought the box in and noticed it had been sliced open at the top. There was only one item in the box, as expected (a new laptop carrying case). In other words, the contents were intact.

My speculation: since today is the release date for the PS4, a thief (or thieves) is following UPS trucks to see where boxes are left out in the open (or just cruising around looking for boxes on doorsteps), then checking the boxes for PS4s they can steal. Scary, if true.

Plausible. Opportunistic plausibility.

Your alternatives are:

1- Tell UPS and all packages for the rest of your life must be picked up at their handling facility 45 miles from your home between the hours of 11:50 and 11:55 AM. When the front door sticks closed juuuust before lunch.

2- Install home surveillance equipment and hope to catch the evildoers in action.

3- Hope whomever was trolling for thievery ripped someone else off and is happy.

today is the release date for the PS4

If that's the case, we'll probably never know unless it's rampant. But certainly that's a possibility.

I'd like to install one of those motion-sensitive door viewer cameras with a recorder, and a local and remote monitor. I haven't seen any with a remote monitor and all the others have mediocre reliability.

You are probably correct (PS4) about the motive.

I know several places that received PS4 shipments on Wednesday and there were a couple/few missing off the pallets.

I received mine (PS4) today - had it deliver to my office. It is running now in the background.

The streaming features are very, very awesome.

Not so certain about the play station link. More likely just someone wanting a look at the contents hoping it would higher value stuff generally. I would certainly let ups know. If for no other reason then they might be having other problems and presumably would get in contact with police,

I received a big box from Amazon yesterday that was open on one side.

The box was much larger than its contents.

It was raining yesterday and it was clear to me that with the humidy and without much to add support from inside, the box had deformed somewhat from the weight of the stuff on top of it in the truck and this popped the tape.
