Note that those aren't omnidirectional so will not be useful in many fixtures. Also, they are a no-name brand with no warranty mentioned and are no cheaper and about the same efficiency as better quality 40w and 60w Crees from Home Depot.

Davester, these are 2-packs.

500 lumens sounds like it's a rather directional bulb with readings taken at the focus.
Great if they are going in a fixture and the directionality of the bulb is like a spot light and that works for you.
I'd be asking if someone els had tried one yet too.

Hi everyone,

Some info about them in this thread:

Not dimmable.

They are a bit whiter than an incandescent.
space-time should like them, then.

Glad to see LEDs coming down to the $5 range.

I love my first Cree bulb. Will be getting more as my CFLs die.

All,

I'd be less concerned about the efficiency and more concerned about the lumen output, color, design, compatibility with a dimmer and overall build quality of the bulb. Those are the factors that really matter.

I'd rather have 60 watt replacements but these 40 watt replacements appear to be pretty efficient (lumens to watts used).

Last week I bought 20 of these bulbs (10 two packs) and have been using them for almost a week. In two bathrooms we replaced five 60 watt above each bathroom mirror with five of these and do not see any difference in the light level. My wife loves them and I do too. Best used horizontal or downward due to the silver shroud that covers half of the bulb. Again, we really like them. With the staples 15% off entire purchase coupon that I had, they came out to just a little over $4 per bulb. Don't know what the longevity will be but the package says rated for 13 1/2 years.

Good to know. I ordered only a single 2-pack to start. Now I wish I'd ordered more.
