Has anyone remodeled a house that had spray foam insulation?

I've had mice chew thru the expanding foam that comes in a can.
They make some with a bitterant in it now - I have no idea how effective it is

This happened in my house as well. Thought I was being clever blocking off their way in. OK for a while but then there was a new mouse and I saw exactly where he came from! Not knowing what else to try I got some small wood blocks and tried to make a good physical barrier first, then more spray foam, from inside and outside. Seems to be working, for now anyway.
I've heard that coarse steel wool will stop them. copper mesh doesn't rust and is tougher to tear apart.

kinda tough to stop a determined hungry mouse or rat though - just ask Mrs. Frisby
My cat has proven himself to be an effective final line of defense.
aluminum foil. it's worked for me.

I've done some minor things like run a water line or coax through a spray foamed area. It is a bit of a drag but not all that bad. Just cut, chip, stab. If you were doing lots of stuff it'd get old for sure.
