What the heck happened to my Evernote Web Clipper elephant?

I noticed today that the little Web Clipper icon is missing from the area in Firefox where it was always located, next to the search window. Reinstalling it did not help. Any ideas?

I can still add notes via the tools menu, but it's clunky compared to clicking the little elephant.

I went into Evernote, checked prefs, and there's a check box to show the elephant icon.

Mine was checked, but no elephant. Unchecked, closed prefs, reopened and checked the box, and the elephant returned.

I got it back by customizing toolbars; hope it stays. The preference is checked in the Evernote app. Can't figure out what made it vanish from Firefox.
