Trying very hard now to avoid using iTunes for anything as it seems to not make anything more simple to use ... regardless, does anyone have a good solution for ripping CD audio on the Mac without iTunes?

XLD is one that I think people use http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/23430/x...ss-decoder
I personally just use iTunes, so I can't maybe give you the best recommendations. Here's another link I found about iTunes alternates for ripping CDs: http://www.macworld.com/article/1158059/...tunes.html

Why not use that super simple software your using in place of iTunes?
Assuming you found one of course. I have yet to figure out what everyone hates so much about iTunes.

I haven't upgraded iTunes in a while, so I can't say I am up to date on the hate. It used to be pretty much everything... except using it to rip CD's.
RealPlayer used to be what I would recommend, but it is now RealCloud and almost as annoying as iTunes for harvesting user information on everything on your hard drive. Your 4 year old just downloaded MLP FIM s3e5, pleasepleaseplease don't you want to share this information with all your co-workers?!1!

I use XLD. Max is another option, but it's always been hit-or-miss for me (functionality, not rip quality).

I have no trouble with iTunes ripping music.
It's the lost interface I mind. I'm still appalled that I cannot sort and see music using what used to be standard interface options. |
