I'm using v.5.9. I've only used the ocr feature a few times and it didn't work to my satisfaction, but I didn't put much time in to figuring it out. Before Preview had the signature and text tool features I found PDFPenPro indespensible. Its still better than Preview for signatures in some ways and I still use it, but nowadays I probably would not buy it.

I've used the OCR in Adobe Acrobat a few times and it worked really well.

We use it for filling out forms and signing them. It works although it would be nice if it remembered our font choice from field to field. I've never had any luck with support questions. The ability to make your signature's background transparent and that it can be placed on a line with the drop case (whatever it's called) below the line, with the line still visible, is very nice!
I just tried installing the latest update of PDFPen in Mavericks and got a cryptic failure message. Might just be a corrupted download though. The older version still works.

I've gotten to where I don't like anything about PDF.
