Moving computer equipment
#1
Tonight is my first night at the new house. I was able to get the iMac fired up with (almost) all of my associated drives. It was quite the chore to get all of the power supplies, USB cables, firewire800 and thunderbolt setup again. Actually the hard part is finding the cables and untangling them.

The good news is I have a nice built in desk for the iMac and a nice cabinet to hold the drives so most of the clutter is tucked away out of sight. Cord management will have to come later.

I can't wait for the day it can all be done wirelessly.

I still remember this picture from my 1976 Byte Magazine issue... I think it was the April issue.

Cbelt, that is exactly what I feel like digging through boxes saying, "where IS that firewire800 cable.."

Here are a few pics. I'll start with the most flattering picture I can take right now showing the work space for the computer and the cabinet holding the hard drives. I'm considering the lower shelves for my printers. I am concerned about heat though. Cable management still needs to be addressed. Pics are a bit grainy as the sun hasn't risen yet so the light is low.

After the most flattering pic I'll show the entire room and the second work area.

you've made a great start but I don't envy you for all the work ahead.

That transceiver is almost certainly a Yaesu FT-101B:

" I am concerned about heat though."

You ought to seriously consider some active ventilation for those cabinets... then figure out a workable solution, then implement that solution asap.

Nice digs BTW, enjoy 'em.

Looks a lot like my computer room only more neat and organized. I'd lose the lamps, they only take up valuable space.
