Muting the email cacophony
#1
I've had a quieter week at work, and yet the amazing flood of emails!

So I'm trying again to unsubscribe to any and all non-essential email.

I notice that someone has figured out that if you use the word 'unsubscribe' in the email, that filters may remove it. So 'opt out' is now appearing - plan to update your filter accordingly.

The last time I did this was when I was stuck in jury duty, and they let me have my iPad but not a computer in the waiting room. Lasted about 3 months before some of the vendors re-appeared.

I think the worst thing you can do is buy something from a company online. They then think you want to be on their emailing list!

I keep a yahoo account for just this reason. It's my SPAM trap. Periodically I delete everything in it.

I do that, too.

What was REALLY annoying was the spam on my official work email. I absolutely did NOT sign up for these emails. Somewhere, someone let them know the rules for our email naming and POP! all of this spam hit.
