Yeah, not much to say for regular modems anymore. They had their day, and it was a heck of a run. Plenty of people had more use of of that technology than I did- I started with a ZOOM 14.4 and went all the way to a Global Village 56k v.92, that was pretty cool I thought.
Now, since you already have an Apple modem on the way I'm afraid you'll just have to wait. That is unless you want to venture into the realm of Ethernet Internet connection sharing. You could also get an Apple Airport basestation with a built-in modem, that would allow you to connect wirelessly, from any airport enabled computer in the vicinity.
I bet you don't need to worry about yuor sperm count being devastated by the heat from your new MacBook though, so that's one thing you've got going for you...
