Identify what is growing in my garden.
#1
Can anyone identify this bush? I think it needs to be cut back severely but I don't want to kill it. Any ideas on how I should go about this?

This is a branch from a tree that has taken root. Anyone know what kind it is? It seems to be extremely fast growning. I'd like to have another tree in our yard so I'm thinking about letting it grow. Unfortunately I can't provide an overall image because its so intertwined with the vegetation it rose from.

Does it ever get any flowers or berries? If so, I think I've been trying to kill the same kind for 15 years. They sprout everywhere; mine has white "berries" in the late fall and winter.

Um, I think the main defining feature is white or silver leaves in the spring. But I'm not 100% on that.

Could be ligustrum (privet): http://landscaping.about.com/od/hedgesfe...hedges.htm

I have a lot in my back yard and it grows fast and tall. You can prune it into a tree shape or cut it to the ground and it will come back.

I think Mike is right. Chop that sucker as much as you want. It'll come back.

Is the leaf sort of rough and sandpaper like?

I would guess an azalea bush and a dogwood tree. Both grow fast, so get to cuttin' before it's too late.
