Got my Pioneer DVR-111D
#1
It's installed. But will it burn discs? Stay tuned as I report every tiny step I take!

Of course, I've already screwed up by not mentioning the arrival of the UPS truck, the fact that the delivery guy didn't buzz me but I got my package anyway thanks to a friendly neighbor, that I opened the box, found peanuts AND bubble wrap (!!!), took the drive out of the bubble wrap, removed the malfunctioning CDRW drive, took the face plate off the new drive, set it to cable select, etc.

Come on, ka jowct. You jumped right from "set to cable select" to "It's installed." You glossed right over the actual installation! We want a screw-by-screw replay (so to speak). Etc. doesn't cut it.

Wurm, thanks for reminding me. The screws were SO small that I had to fetch my set of itty-bitty jeweler's screwdrivers. What the ???

I'm getting a Dell.

you never described the box......or what came with the drive.....useless PC sleds? PC burning software? a cable? anything?

DETAILS MAN, DETAILS!!!!!!!!!

The box was sturdy brown cardboard, closed with heavy transparent packing tape. The only thing that came with the drive was a set of instructions. Where are my useless sleds? Where is my pointless OEM version of Easy CD Creator? Oh, the humanity!

Ah, an OEM drive. Fine if you just need a dare drive.

I wouldn't by a drive on a dare, but a bare drive is just fine.

Newegg, I presume?

You presume correctly, sir.
