Does anyone else report copyrighted software on eBay?
#1
Call me a goody-two-shoes, but it's illegal. You can not sell software on a machine that you either don't own the serial for in the first place, or don't pass your serial on and discontinue your use of it. It seems nearly common practice for people to include everything under the sun from Microsoft Office to Adobe and beyond. Does anyone else report these or am I wasting my time?

Only to other competing auctions...heh

If you put the fact that "YOU RELOADED THE MACHINE AND INSTALLED CURRENT VERSIONS OF THE FOLLOWING SOFTWARE WITHOUT A TRANSFER A LICENCE WHICH THE BUYER NEEDS TO REMOVE AFTER TESTING THE MACHINE" I'm pretty sure it's kind of legal.

I don't do it but I've known some who have.

Not ebay, but I've reported a few on craigslist to the BSA.

I reported a guy selling a CD-R featuring the entire Beatles catalogue to eBay and it got pulled:

In a way, I felt bad because I bought a few legal DVDs from him and liked his prices and service.

I HAVE once in a while.... I don't go trolling for pirates to report though.

I'm not in the market for such computers so I don't run across them.

Even if I did come across such an auction, there are more serious things to be concerned about on eBay and the world.

I had an auction pulled even though the software licenses were being transferred. It really pissed me off as I knew ebay didn't pull it without a report. Ebay just didn't care. To them, any software advertised was illegal. But yeah, it always irritated me that people would do this illegally and take away buyers from sellers who were staying legal. Heck, "borrowing" software is a big reason people give me for buying PCs.
