Tonight its an Elgin De Luxe from the mid 40s. It has a beautiful rose gold dial with a matching rose gold plated bezel and bracelet. The bracelet is made by Kestenmade.

Love this one too. I noticed that fast/slow adjustment thingamajig. I have two old cheap Westclock alarm clocks left that have that, plus a couple of old Japanese wall clocks with adjustable pendulum.

If you buy them not working, is there a pattern as to what is the usual issue with them?

Usually the balance staff is broken. On the Elgin Thin Thin models, there are usually 1 of 3 parts that are broken--the rocker plate, setting lever, and setting lever spring.

Also, the openings on the hands become bent out of shape over time if they have been removed and put back on. They start to slip.

do you repair these by yourself, or you have a good watchmaker? how much do you pay for such a repair?

I can repair some things, especially the broken parts on the Thin Thin models, but with my CIDP I can't deal with the small parts. I have a local guy. He charges $110 for cleaning and oiling.
