Yeah - went through that yesterday...2018 was a unique year for me (decided I no longer wanted to be a landlord), so things were pretty complicated. Glad it's done - and found out that there is an income cap for being allowed to contribute to a Roth IRA; I did not know that.

you can contribute to a traditional IRA and then move the money into a Roth IRA, it is called a backdoor.

Reminds me: Anyone got a deal on TurboTax Fed E-File+State?

Best deal that I've seen for the digital download is $50 on Amazon.

(Before you suggest alternatives: I've tried other apps and the free online products and they don't work in my situation.)

For TurboTax Deluxe. This is the best so far. @ Target See SD https://slickdeals.net/f/12802444-target...rchV2Algo1

Wurm,

Not at all. We're still getting tax-related documents from various institutions.

Waiting on 1 document. It usually comes in during April although last year they surprised me with a mid-March arrival.

Filed Federal and State and have already received the refunds. Standard deduction is now more that what we itemized in the past. Much easier. Same refund, but got about $100/month more in our checks this past year.

Not looking forward to this at all, so I've been putting the chore off. We live in California, one of the states hard hit by the new $10k cap on deductible taxes that came with the tax "reform" for billionaires bill. Our Fed taxes are therefore going way up this year. Gotta give those billionaires their tax breaks somehow.
