Why is it that so many humans can only express a connection to the world outside them by killing other members of it? I'm not talking about people genuinely hungry or in tribal societies where life and death are part of a natural and spiritual dance.

Hawks and Owls are protected by Federal law. This case should be turned over to the Feds for real prosecution.

Speaking of hawks, there is a tremendous place to see an incredible variety of them at a place called Hawk Mountain in Eastern Pennsylvania. It funnels southern flying hawks on the Eastern migratory route and the views are fantastic. This funneling did not escape the attention of "sportsmen" a dozen decades ago: at one of the lookout points there is a photograph of sportsmen with their guns standing around a 12 foot high pile of dead hawks. Nowadays people carry cameras. Highly recommended.
