Hmmm... apparently I did very well shopping through Instacart not too long ago...

... looks like they'll be paying ME, if I need to buy gas!:

... these are the rewards I'm seeing through my grocery store rewards card. There was a 40x bonus point coupon that I asked my shopper to use on her last trip, apparently that was a very good coupon!

That was in May when oil prices were negative.

I was joking of course, but notice that what I would be getting off is per gallon. The rewards card maxes me out at buying 20 gallons at a time, but I find that usually lasts me 3-4 months ... under normal circumstances. Right now, I can't see much point in buying gas at all, so I'll probably just use it towards my next grocery order.

Do their points expire after a time?

Reward points where I shop for groceries normally expire after a month, that has been extended for a while under the store's response to the pandemic. Most gas discount rewards from stores in this area do have a maximum that can be used for a single purchase

They do have an expiration date, but it's not for several months yet ... you can see from the snapshot above that a very small portion of what I have now will expire on 10/31. NOT worried about that at all! (And yes, you can only use the points for gas in a single purchase, meaning that if the gas costs $1.99 a gallon and I use a portion of my points to bring it down to $0/gallon, I have to buy that gas all at once -- which is why I usually buy the maximum I can in one purchase, which is 20 gallons... but that would still leave me with another $3.26 off per gallon to use in future purchases.)
