OWC handling of this reasonable, or not? (Long)
#31
Larry,

I don't remember when I last used that email address to email you, but trust me I have. And while I have no
idea how long ago - it doesn't seem that long ago to me. Consequently, why would I "assume" that it wasn't still your
prime address. Seems the logical choice for your personal email address to me.

And then there's the fact that after sending my initial email to you I got the following response almost immediately;

larry@owc.net (Friends system) wrote:
> Your email to "larry@owc.net" with the subject "Shady business practice? Or honest mistake?" has been blocked by the Friends system. larry@owc.net only accepts email from people on a list of approved senders to minimize spam, you are not currently on this list. If you would like to be added to the list simply reply to this message without changing the subject line.
{emphasis added}

Which seemed not only logical but reasonable. After all, I'd assume you get a lot of email questions and comments. Consequently after responding to the message I then re sent my email figuring better to send it twice and have you get two copies than to assume you got the first one only to discover at some later time that that was not the case.

As for a private message I guess it never occurred to me to go that route. After all, I thought I had an email address that worked. Not to mention that the response I got certainly led me to think it worked.

Hey Ron, I'm not sure why you're pressing the email bit further. Yeah, your thought process was logical but there was obviously something you were unaware of (and had no good way to tell you didn't know it) which kept Larry from getting that email.

To me it doesn't seem like he purposefully ignored your email. He seems like he has a good explanation why he didn't get it, and it also aligns with the email communication I've had with him in the past.

Again - larry@owc.net is a personal e-mail account. I see our PR firm messed up a couple years ago on a couple releases - but other than that - it's been personal use only for quite some time. I need not offer any further explanation. My e-mail address that is associated here and in every business message is an @macsales.com address.

Regardless - I located the e-mails you sent to the @owc.net account and I replied at 4:02PM CST to it with my owc@macsales.com account.

I look forward to your reply via email (I see you posted here about 2 hours after I sent that) and we'll see what we can do here.

I hope you don't get the idea I'm trying to be argumentative here - but how, by responding his post quoting me am I "pressing" anything.

I mean, I'm responding to your post. Does that mean I'm pressing you. Sheesh. Larry posted his comments and I responded to them trying to get the point across that I was doing what I thought was correct and providing some proof to back up my logic.

larry@owc.com "was" his email address at some point in the past. I had no way of knowing it was not still actively used by him for the purpose of communicating with the masses and the automated response I got only added to my impression that I was emailing the correct address.

End of story.

Hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas.

larry@owc.com has never been an e-mail address of mine. OWC.Com is not even one of our domains. OWC.NET is our ISP division. Maybe you thought my e-mail address was larry@owc.com or larry@owc.net and e-mailed that way? You got the friends anti-spam auto-reply because you had not prior e-mailed in or had correspondance with me via the larry@owc.net address. The auto-responder message makes no mention of Other World Computing nor does it refer to OWC Larry - again - that's a personal account that has not been used for years. I am sorry that I didn't see your message there and also that you weren't able to resend the message to my OWC@macsales.com address even after I posted it here.

I am always interested in resolution putting all of this thread and the e-mail address stuff aside - I did locate your message. I replied to it after 4PM today (prior to a couple of your posts here) - and I look forward to your response so this matter can be closed. Thank you.
