Rep. Troy E. Nehls (R-Tex.), boot-licker
#1
After Biden's speech last night Nehls approached him with an offer to help with police reform.

WaPo wrote:
... in a brief exchange Wednesday night, Nehls, wearing a Texas-flag mask, introduced himself to Biden as “a sheriff from Texas” and offered his experience policing Fort Bend County to help with the president’s efforts on criminal justice reform.

“I want to help with the criminal justice reform. I want to be a part of it. It’s needed,” he said to the president. “I don’t know how to reach out to you, but I have the experience.”

In response, Biden assured him they’d be in touch, saying, “I’ll reach out to you.”

“I don’t want to hurt your reputation,” the president said to Nehls of his offer, according to video of the moment.

Before Biden went to talk to another lawmaker, Nehls made his final plea: “I can do a whole lot of good in that conversation.”

A White House official told The Washington Post on Thursday that Biden “appreciated Rep. Nehls’s offer and their conversation.”

“And we are following up with the congressman,” the official said.

The White House (and Biden) is far nicer and professional to Nehls than I'd be.

Nehls has a law enforcement career:
- fired as a cop in the '90s for destruction of evidence
- later served in Iraq, became a Sheriff
- 2017: threatened a driver with disorderly conduct for displaying an anti-Trump profanity-laced bumper sticker

and he's an opportunist MAGA:
- supported Trump's idea to deploy armed forces against protesters
- campaigned last year to, "stand with President Trump to defeat the socialist Democrats, build the wall, drain the swamp, and deliver on pro-economy and pro-America policies.”
- began to moderate after winning his election with healthcare and police reform issues ....
- and yet supports the Big Lie

Last night, during Biden's speech, tweeted criticism of the southern border and of Chinese-made masks provided for the event he was sitting in.

The rep’s party is readying the tar and feathers for daring to publicly talk to , much less touch, President Biden/

And I’m sure Biden’s team knows to use lots of hand sanitizer around the dude.
