Folks might find this story interesting.

Based on the advice of a fellow forumite, I purchased a Logitech Anywhere MX mouse (about ten or eleven years ago). My wife like it so much that she used it with her work computer.

She retired several years ago. Several months ago, I picked up some boxes that were being stored for her. Last week, she went through the boxes and found the mouse. It has a nice heft and fits my hand quite well.

Of course, the USB dongle is long gone. Thinking the universe is inherently balanced, there must be a spare, Logitech Unifying Receiver dongle out there somewhere. Happy to pay for shipping and handling (plus a small donation to someone's named charity).

Looks like $2 and $2 shipping, so $4 total.

Good find. (Not sure why I thought I had already checked bay.)

The universe seems to be working. (At least, my small corner.)

Found a used, wireless, Logitech mouse for sale on Facebook for $10 Canadian. (15-minute walk) Rather than worry about a delivery to the US in these COVID-restricted times, I opted to get the local mouse.

The person said he just test it, and it was not working. So, he gave it to. All I wanted was the dongle, so I'm happy. Trying to set it up now.

Oh, dear. This is becoming the "We'll see" story. There's always another chapter.

Can't get either of the two mice (and a Logitech wireless keyboard) to work with the dongle. Also tried all three on two different Macs (each with a different OS). Have also tried firmware updates from Logitech's site on both Macs.

Will try on a Windows machine tomorrow at work. Even if it works, I don't need another mouse at work.

Latest instalment: Today I was able to download a driver from Logitech. The mouse is now working.

Interesting. Typically mice don't need drivers to work, at least for basic functions.
