Vintage camera
#21
The guy who got me the Rollei had a great collection of 4x5 & 8x10 view cameras & an assortment of lenses.

I got mine down & blew off the dust & looked through it for the 1st time in over 10 years. There's no noticeable model number on mine but it's got a Xenar 1:3.5/75 lens & has Syncro-Compur on the front between the 2 lenses.

This is one of my favorite pictures taken with the Rolleiflex.

B&H does stock some obsolete film formats, or they did the last time I looked at one of their ads. 620 and 616 I believe.

Nice shot David - I didn't even notice the person in the window until the second time I saw it
I like shots with lot's of hidden little details (you should see some of the shot's I've done for puzzles - talk about detail)

You can probably figure out which model it is as there is a lot of info on the net
(I still have a few collector books too)

The Schneider Xenar was considered a "lower end" lens (at least in marketing and some opinion)
but basically it is identical in design to the Tessar and as good as a performer but the
Zeiss name ruled at that time.

I had a Schneider Xenar on my old Linhof Kit I can tell you it was a hell of a lens
Actually all my lenses on my Linhof were "Linhof Schneider's"
(These lenses were hand picked and tested by Linhof and mounted in hand picked Compurs
and marked "Linhof" - with matching focus cams)

Anyway - people eventually figured out that they were a very fine lens

If it has MXV sync and had an EV system (shutter speed and aperature are locked together)
It is probably a Rolleicord V or a variant of. These were actually pretty cool because
you could use an insert to shoot 35mm film with them.

I could spend a small fortune on quality cameras

I don't know. I post a nice picture of a good looking camera that I'm quite proud of and the topic gets hijacked by these people with better cameras, more of them and not only that, they know how to use them. Pah!

TLRs are way cool to play with and cheap as h-e-double-hockey-sticks nowadays.

this is the model I use on a fairly regular basis although I have an expensive 645 SLR system (Bronica):

in fact, i have two now since I busted the first one some years ago as its original leather strap attached to its original and 40 year old case came flying off whilst I was running, bouncing the camera off of the pavement. yeah.

and, fil, i'm definitely into finding one of your Fuji 645s but have been thinking 6x9s more and more. much $$ still, though.

The beauty of the GS645 is that since it is a folder it is easy to carry along or put in a jacket pocket
and with a lens that good and with the modern emulsions available the quality is pretty astounding.

The Fujica 75/3.5 lens is just plain stunning and the viewfinder with it's rangefinder is bright and clear.
The vertical orientation of the viewfinder might throw you at first but it's comfortable
to use horizontally too.

I have seen them on ebay with a buy it now at $350-ish go with no bids because folks just
don't get what a great camera these are if you want a pocketable 6x4.5
