sharing printer with Windows machine isn't working

my wifes laptop see the printer but won't print to it.
I have printer and windows sharing on. And the printer is checked in Printer & Fax settings.
any idea?
I'm in Tiger she's on XP Pro.

Have you installed Bonjour for Windows? Makes things a lot less of a hassle.

If you're not using Bonjour you'll need to using a postscript driver on the XP machine, I've used a laserwriter driver in the past.

Under Properties>Advanced>Driver for the printer in Windows, you have to have a generic Apple LaserWriter printer driver selected, not the actual driver for the printer. For example, my Epson 1280 is set up as an Apple Color LaserWriter 12/600 and my Samsung ML-1710 is set up as an Apple LaserWriter 16/600 PS. You'll be limited to very basic settings for the printer but as long as you're not trying to do 1440 dpi Photoshop prints, you'll be OK.

huh, for some reason, the Bonjour printer was gone.
I reset, and so far ........... badda bing
