Troubling news: Virginia Giuffre took her own life yesterday
#1
She was 41 and had 3 young daughters. RiP Virginia, one of the more courageous women of our time.
Teen abuse victim of Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Andrew and others.

"Giuffre was one of the earliest and loudest voices calling for criminal charges against Epstein and his enablers. Other Epstein abuse survivors later credited her with giving them the courage to speak out.

She also provided critical information to law enforcement that contributed to the investigation into and later the conviction of Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell, as well as other investigations by the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York.

"It is with utterly broken hearts that we announce that Virginia passed away last night at her farm in Western Australia," her family said in a statement to NBC News. "She lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking."

"Virginia was a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking. She was the light that lifted so many survivors," the statement said. “In the end, the toll of abuse is so heavy that it became unbearable for Virginia to handle its weight."

Further victimized by her abusers and their followers…. Who should all be liable for her death.

When bullies run the government, we need to keep fighting against them…

May she rest in peace, and her memory be a rallying cry to fight bullying and abuse wherever we find it.

Might be out of context, but I found the implications of this disturbing…

“…her family said in a statement to NBC News. ‘She lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse…’”

Where was her “family” at the beginning of this “lifelong” sexual abuse?

Where was her “family” at the beginning of this “lifelong” sexual abuse?

Family here refers to her husband and daughters, none of whom were in the picture when her abuse was taking place.

Regarding her parents, she had a very troubled childhood and was a sex abuse victim from a young age. She ran away and spent time in foster homes. At 14 she returned to her Dad and ended up working at Mar a Lago ( yes that one) and was trafficked by an older man before she met Epstein.

It's a very tragic story and has ended in tragedy.
. She did help many other abuse victims and changed how law enforcement addresses these situations. Her too short life had a very positive impact.

It really is awful. I think I read she had renal failure, which is a real drag to add to the rest of what she went through.

I'd really like a full autopsy and forensic workup on this one. Why would she commit suicide NOW? She'd certainly seen darker days. As the kids say, it seems very sus.

I imagine that will be done. The details about her final months are very troubling. She was estranged from her husband, who had also not permitted her to see their 3 children for some time. There are some reports he was abusive towards her.

I have no doubt she always struggled with very serious PTSD type illness or other emotional distress. That stuff doesn't just end.
.She also won a $10m settlement from Prince Andrew. That kind of money can cause problems too.
Tragic all around.

Wikipedia is unclear, as I assume the press was not made privy to the medical details, but the renal failure thing sounded serious. Her medical prognosis may have been a tipping point for her.

Side note, while it's not anyone here's personal business to evaluate her reasoning, I think we all are curious about the details of these decisions because we are concerned for signs of trouble in our loved ones or even ourselves.

I read her health problems were caused by an auto accident a few months back. The ambulance was late getting her to the hospital for some reason and she nearly died.

So assuming that's accurate, yes her state of mind would have been extremely troubled.

This is from an NPR article:

"Giuffre separated from her husband and children this year. She had been charged with breaching a family violence restraining order over an incident in February, and was set to appear in court in June in the city of Perth, where her estranged husband and children live.

She had yet to enter a plea to the charge. A conviction would have carried a potential maximum sentence of two years in prison.

Giuffre was hospitalized after a serious accident, her publicist said last month. She didn’t answer questions at the time about the date, location, nature or other specifics of the accident and about the accuracy of an Instagram post that appeared to come from Giuffre. The post said she had been in a car that was hit by a school bus and her prognosis was dire."
