Buy clothes online?

Say I have this pair of corduroy pants, Polo brand. Fit great. Just want a few more. No need to try them on. I've never purchased clothes online. Recommend a particular place with a wide variety, or is it going to be brand-specific?

Depends on how old they are. I'd be willing to bet that they weren't made the same place or the same way they are now. I'd google for places that sell that particular brand/style, then check their return policy, just in case.

I buy clothes online all the time since I'm tall and they don't have my size in the stores. Most stores allow you to buy online and make returns to the actual stores. Just check the web sites before ordering.

Used to buy Land's End stuff online but their quality sure is not what it used to be.

Sometimes you can google the specific brand and get something back. But wurm is right. Age is everything in clothes. If they're even still made, the pattern is probably different. Especially with Polo. Very seasonal there.

At any rate, buying clothes online is fairly trivial these days. The return policy is worth checking before you buy, but most places are pretty good about allowing returns. Some exceptions are with sales merchandise or "one of a kind" gear.

You can really pick up some outstanding bargains online if you look for them. bfd got a really nice leather jacket from Pendleton at 80% off the original price. It was their end-of-summer sale, so it was clearly a holdover from last year. But in leather jackets, there's not much change in style from year to year.

If you know your waist/inseam/shirt-size, etc. you can find some real deals there. The homepage is a little bit of a mess, but there are links to search by brand, gender/size, whatever you want...

I tend to buy clothing (and footwear) online only when i know a specific brand and model and size. For example... I wear New Balance 6xx series cross-trainers, size 9.5 D. I can buy any variation of the 6xx series in 9.5 D and it's a near guarantee fit, even if it's the 609, 608, 620 variation. Same goes for a particular type of Gap jeans and muscle shirts from Nike.com. I know my model and size of them and can order online when on sale and save a bundle.

With the Nike shirts, I bought one or two locally and once I figured out which models and sizes within the model range fit well, I then went to Nike.com and grabbed them on sale. It took a little trial and error. Same goes for clothing from Lands End. I definitely recommend Landsend.com. Excellent quality and everything they sell wears well. If you buy clothes from landsend.com, you can return it to Sears.

I buy almost everything from LLBean. I used to buy from Lands End too but found that the quality was really up and down.

Wurm has the right suggestion. Just make sure that any place that you order from has a liberal return policy.
