Much as I hate Intuit, it's the industry standard, so lots of clients need to use QBooks...
I have one that's wondering about their online service, to allow them to work with their PC-based bookkeeper remotely. Are any of you familiar with the ramifications of doing this?
1) We assume that we need to do it via either Parallels or Fusion on an Intel Mac. The client has also read good reports about something called Northstar, which is subscription-based (and which I've never heard of), and then there's CrossOver. Any suggestions here?
2) One big concern is if doing this is going to preclude keeping the Mac version of QuickBooks data up-to-date. Is this an issue? In other words, can you export your data out of the online version and import it back into the Mac version of QB? I sincerely doubt it, based on previous experience with Intuit! If true, then this essentially means leaving the Mac version behind, and being almost exclusively online-based (other than the bookkeeper on her PC, I assume)? Hmmm... Obvious concerns there!
3) Other than the previously-mentioned issues surrounding QB on the Mac vs. QB on the PC, are there things we need to be aware of before moving to the online version?
Thanks so much for any advice/suggestions you can give!
