Why aren't you using the HDV?
I shoot everything HDV and then import as SD into Final Cut if I need SD.

The idea is (if same as mine) to end up with edited high-definition footage that can be watched in high-definition using a stand-alone Blu-Ray player (but not needing expensive Blu-Ray discs). That way, you get your edited movie onto the big-screen TV and make it portable to other people who have BR players. Most BR players can play AVCHD if properly authored on regular DVD discs, the limitation is 20 min.

Sorry for abandoning the thread and for mistakenly saying I originally didn't want to touch "HDV." I meant to say "AVC HD."

Yes, dk62 and I are on the same page. I DO shoot exclusively HDV. I just want a cheap and convenient way to export edited high def footage. Preferably to DVDs that will play on my Panasonic BD30. I will keep my eye on the Apple Discussion thread listed above. I've tried a handful of conversions myself with no luck thus far. I just haven't had a lot of time to futz with it.
