I got an email for this today:
http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.asp...d=11284897
D300 + lens + 2GB CF card for $1999 + tax (shipping included).
I paid $2500 a few months ago for this and don't regret it, although paying less is always better. This is a great deal for those who have been waiting, especially because it is through Costco.

I see a 70-300mm lens.
I wouldn't suggest an 18-200mm anyway. mediocre at all focal lengths.

Oops, my bad. Still a good camera at a good price.
As far as the 18-200 being mediocre, what is a good lens if you were only going to carry one? I have the 18-200 and I think it does a good job for only one lens to carry around.
Are you speaking from experience or from what others have said?

pRon must be busy keeping up as a freelancer. I'm sure he's not gone for good.
I can't speak for the nikon 18-200. I had two different Tamron 28-200's and I thought they were great until I really started looking closely. Those kind of lenses very much have a rightful place in the world, though.
