OnyX question
#1
My system (iMac intel running 10.4.11 ) has been getting slower and I have plenty of disk space. Decided I might want to try OnyX as I have never run any maintenance programs other than "permissions repair".

For this system, which version should I download? I see 1.9.5 is for Leopard only, but when I went to VersionTracker and clicked on download for 10.4.X it gets ready to download the 1.9.5 for Leopard. I already have 1.7.5 downloaded from some time ago but never used. Any suggestions as to version, and do I need to do anything preliminary to running OnyX?

1.7.5 should work. Let it run all of the scripts.

Did you look here?

I just downloaded 1.8.5

Any comments on the preferred maintenance routine/app for 10.4 vs 10.5?

I will upgrade soon to 10.5 but I was using Cocktail on 10.4.

I don't understand the differences between the choices for 10.4 ie Onyx, Cocktail, MacJanitor, AppleJack... are their others??

It seems that Onyx is the only one that has been upgraded to work with 10.5.
Do I still need to run maintenance utilities for 10.5 when I upgrade? Or did Apple finally address this strange omission?

Cocktail, Onyx, AppleJack--all invasive.

Safe boot your machine then restart normally.

If you're still not happy, get Yasu and run it with default options.
