population of laptop owners

Is there any way to find out how many laptop owners are there in the United States? CA alone? And how many are males, females and their social-economic standing? TiA

I'll start you out.

I have 2 Mac laptops, a MB and a G3 PB. I own both, but the wife uses the MB when we are traveling (less of this now.)

Our socio-economic status is piss-poor and getting worse with the gas and food prices rising.

Yes. I would conduct a multi-demographic survey of contrasting SMSAs, probably 8, each with a sampling, in person, of 1617 respondents. Shopping Center / Mall would be ideal, because phone samples can no longer be assured to provide broad age categories as a result of cellular popularity.

Because your target audience is computer literate, you could also choose web based polling, via these firms, http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en-us&q=polling+services&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8 - but I certainly don't like to engage in them, and I'd bet you'd find a skewed response curve in the 11 to 15 age group, and 12-14 in paticular.
