I'll start you out.
I have 2 Mac laptops, a MB and a G3 PB. I own both, but the wife uses the MB when we are traveling (less of this now.) Our socio-economic status is piss-poor and getting worse with the gas and food prices rising.

Yes. I would conduct a multi-demographic survey of contrasting SMSAs, probably 8, each with a sampling, in person, of 1617 respondents. Shopping Center / Mall would be ideal, because phone samples can no longer be assured to provide broad age categories as a result of cellular popularity.
Because your target audience is computer literate, you could also choose web based polling, via these firms, http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en-us&q=polling+services&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8 - but I certainly don't like to engage in them, and I'd bet you'd find a skewed response curve in the 11 to 15 age group, and 12-14 in paticular.

btw... that was to answer your question AND make your eyes roll into the back of your head.

how about: http://www.marketresearch.com/ ? Hey, I forgot the smiley. She's a beauty! A good friend of ours has similar features but older in age. My weakness: athletic and independent minded women.
