Food Makers Scrip on Ingredients due to high costs....

'Seen the size of chocolate bars at checkout aisles? They're already about a quarter the size they were when I was a kid...

They have shaped the bars so that they're thinner, but look bigger because they're arced slightly.

Wrappers are thinner. They use fewer nuts and raisins and caramel...

What's left to take away?

The chocolate.

I stopped buying yogurt when a $1.29 cup didn't contain enough "yogurt" for a third spoonful.

Rice-A-Roni has been doing this with their rice for awhile: The new boxes are roughly the same size as before and say things like "same great taste," but contain a few ounces less product. The blurb about the taste isn't the problem. The problem is that a box no longer serves 2-4 people, but they charge just as much.

While one might make the argument that it's healthier and better for the environment this way, there's still the problem that they're deliberately deceiving consumers and not giving us the value that we expect when we purchase their products. Manufacturers are sacrificing quality and brand loyalty for a short-term profit.

ever see a 6 oz can of tuna? It lists tuna, broth and water. Or tuna, water and broth. So by law, it can be 2.1 oz of tuna, 2 oz of broth, and 1.9 oz of water, and they are being truthful and within the law. Fine, how about a 5 oz can of just tuna, and charge a buck for it?
