Y'all are not seeing the bigger picture here.

Cows are known to be producers of methane which contributes to global warming. By shifting milk production away from cows, herds can be reduced thereby reducing global warming.

Almost half of all automobiles on the highways are being driven by females. If they were to throw themselves into this new cottage industry they'd probably not to travel nearly as much (working from home so to speak) thereby reducing the pressure on transportation fuels and greenhouse gasses.

Of course there would be a need to step up a breeding program to build up the new "herds". That would probably lead to improved mental health in males, leading to lower medical costs overall.

But with the increase in population on the production side there would be pressure on housing. Thankfully the recent crash in the housing market has made a lot of lower cost housing immediately available.

Universal health care for one half of the population would be made easier because the laws and governmental entities are already in place in the USDA; no need to ram new laws thru to expand the HEW. Plus there would be an opportunity for a whole new set of government programs - new milk production "support" programs.

Keeping the producers "down on the farm" might present some challenges. These could probably be handled with a new "barefoot and pregnant" national policy. The only downside here is the minority left-wing feminist movement who might take a negative view of this whole program of "exploitation", but this is a national emergency involving global warming, housing, and food production. They'll just need to get over it and do their part for the good of the nation.
