website re-write costs?
#11
To Bik and all webdesigners:

I didn't want to underplay your jobs and livelihood. It was not my intent to say that designing a website was easy.

The company website was already designed in Dreamweaver (duly corrected). The only updates are the names and few pictures of folks at the company. It's not a site which requires any massive interactions, just essentially an update on the look and feel with a little update to the names of people (with their pics). That's why I said I would imagine that the work was exceedingly simple...for this website.

Sorry for the confusion, typing is very difficult to convey the emotions of what I'm saying.

Apology duly noted.

Of course changing pictures and text for a few people isn't a big deal. But what are you calling a few, exactly? I would consider anything over 7 people, "several."

And this:

just essentially an update on the look and feel

gives me serious pause, because it could very well be a complete redesign for a 600 static page site! And a developer wouldn't know --unless told--whether these pages were properly attached to templates. Just importing and opening even a smallish site can consume a lot of time, and if someone else designed it, you don't know what you're getting into.

If you want more accurate and precise estimates, you'll have to give a lot more information.
