Red Dell mini 9
#1
512MB RAM, 4GB SSD arrived this morning. First thing I did was swap out the RAM with a 1GB stick. Next came getting rid of XP in favor of ubuntu in form of a Dell restore ISO. Leopard will be installed once the 32GB SSD gets here.

I'm still trying to figure out how to move a few favorite fonts into Ubuntu. I find these long indecipherable procedures on various forums, but there must be a much more straightforward way.

Where, how, did you get a Dell restore ISO, did it accompany it?

I've got a white one coming. From some previous experimenting with Ubuntu, I know that if I want to do anything not included in the downloads it requires entering into illogical 'terminal hell'.

I'm going to see if I can get by with Ubuntu since my only uses will be email and surfing the net. It is, after all, a netbook.

Would 22 bucks for a 2-GB RAM stick, instead of a 1-GB stick have been just...way, way out of your budget? I'd loan you the ten extra bucks!

The 1GB stick was something I had on hand, pulled from another mini 9.
I've now got 3 worthless 512MB sticks that will reside in a drawer.
