Sometimes the Origin Zip code is listed---that might provide a clue

Thanks, folks.
IRS-- guess I could live with that. It's some crazy lawsuit I don't need in my life.
You can bet I would have been all over the zip code had it been listed.

I got a certified, must sign for letter from my insurance company with an overpayment check enclosed several years ago.

I received a notice of a rent increase & request to retroactively pay up.

IRS will use it for really bad news like audits and if you don't respond to regular letters, and for simple things like 4 pages of, The IRS is not giving your overpayment of taxes back, do you want to appeal?
