I have several email accounts set up on my Touch, all as IMAP. Gmail, for one, works as expected: if I check mail on the Touch, and delete some new message after reading it, it doesn't show up in Mail when I open it on my Mac Pro. Two other accounts, however, at my local ISP, don't behave the same. I can check those accounts on the Touch, read/delete a message or two, and when I open Mail on the main machine, the 'deleted' messages get downloaded anyway!?! What gives? Anyone have an idea about what might be going on??
The only difference between Gmail and the other two is that Gmail is set up as IMAP on both the Touch and the Mac Pro. The other two are POP on the desktop. I know that's likely the issue, but what could possibly cause the mail server to somehow allow a message to be deleted via IMAP, and still have it show up the next time a computer connects via POP? Some sort of caching issue?
Sure would be nice if I could figure this out!
TIA, John
