If you IMAP your Gmail to Apple Mail, will it get rid of the threads?

I have a gmail account POPing to mail on my secondary mac (don't use mail otherwise) and it's been displaying non-threaded, just plain sequentially by time/date.
Wish you could do that with gmail's web view-- there's be a lot less dropped communication.

Yes, that's the one thing I absolutely despise about web-accessed Gmail: they force you to use the threaded/conversation view. At least for me, it's so confusing. That's why I was wondering if you use Apple Mail, if it can get rid of the threaded view.
If you unselect 'organize by thread' under View they are displayed 'flat'.

Okay, that's kinda what I was looking to find out. What if you have one email that's part of a thread, but you've filed it away in "archive" or "all mail" and another email that's part of the same thread in your "inbox." How does it handle that?

Are you asking how to better configure Gmail online, or wondering if Mail retains its normal organization/navigation abilities for IMAP accounts?

If the latter, then as far as I can tell it does. Mail's message view is independent of Gmail's in the browser.

Folders:
I can't make sub-folders within my Gmail acct within Mail without the Gmail server balking and wanting to place them within another folder. But I can accomplish the same thing by doing it on the web, and then Mail shows the subfolder where I intended it.

If none of that makes sense just play around with it.

I run two Gmail accounts with Apple Mail and currently it is not threaded. I'm not sure I could
get used the threaded view.
