Do LED LCDs get toasty?
#1
My 30 inch is like a small heater, I'm glad I never ran it with my PowerMac because then my room would be in a constant state of equatorial weather.

If LED displays put out zero heat, then I will become even more inclined to ditch this 30 for a pair of 24's and a Sewell DisplayLink adapter for my MacBook.

look at the power spec. that should tell it very clearly.

Assuming you are not talking about an OLED 30" display because those are not in production yet, LED backlit use about 30% less power than a standard LCD.

I switch from a 40"lcd tv to a 55" led lcd tv. The 40" would give off a lot of heat the 55" gives off none. I hope they start shipping bigger led lcd computer monitors.

I would have thought most of the heat comes from the power supply, since the heat comes out of one side, or the other. I suppose the led's might require a smaller power supply though, so maybe that's the deal. kj.
