Have cable Internet, and the house wired with Ethernet via router connected to the cable modem, but I would now like to add wireless/WiFi in the house for iPhone access and occasional non-Ethernet laptop use.
Question; would there be any problems with having the wireless router downline from my main router?
That is: the wireless router connected to main router which stays connected to the cable modem.

Shouldn't be a problem. You should probably try to position it as close to where you expect to use to use your laptop.

Just turn off DHCP if you're wired to the first router.

can do it, but you might as well get rid of the existing router. only adds complexity to have more than one.

I've done it...when my basement router wasn't getting signal to the second floor. After the windsurfer antenna attachment, I've turned the second WIFI off.

If you are using it just for your iPhone make sure it's set to G and not N speeds.

I have a second router set up for wireless - I just turned off DCHP on the second one - no issues...
