My niece's iMac got stuck at max zoom once because a two-year old sat down at it and somehow pressed the right buttons to do this.
However, because the Apple mouse ball was so messed up, we could not get it back to normal until I brought another mouse over. Rick-o wrote: Huh! Count me in as one who did not know. Handy. Thanks silvarios.

silvarios wrote: On a Mac you can zoom into the entire interface by holding control and then scrolling up, reverse the zoom by holding control and scrolling down. Might be helpful next time you are on your Mac (assuming you also own a Mac). That was pretty neat!

I use that Ctrl-Scroll trick all the time as a 24" screen is also my main "TV" screen and it's hard to see file names without zooming. I mentioned this in a somewhat recent thread.
But Apple is not gouging. You don't have to buy Apple products to manage in the computer world. Selling 14oz. bottles of water for $20 in flood areas where there are no longer fresh water supplies would be gouging. M-B or BMW aren't gouging when you can buy a Focus or Fiesta.

Glad people enjoyed the zooming shortcut. I've used it for years. Even the classic Mac OS had something similar, it was a Control Panel provided by Apple. Close View? I think that was it.

Which is why I typed "something similar". I knew it wasn't a scroll command, but I thought maybe it was a mouse click and modifier key invocation. Couldn't remember. But yes, Close View used a simple keyboard shortcut. This fine site had the Close View details I couldn't quite remember.
