My wife and I were staying at the Ihilani resort (sixth photo from the top) the week the Disney resort referenced on that page was announced. We were both very saddened, as we immediately grasped that everything that makes the Ihilani wonderful will cease to be when the Disney resort opens for business. We're going back in April; it will be interesting to see how much things have changed in two years.

I suspect the the image of the capital isn't photoshop, it is the difference between a wide angle lens and a telephoto that squeezes perspective together.

I took my family to a little hotel (actually a motel) up in Branson; the
Grand Country Inn. Not too big, but just right for us, even with all the guests (though we went during March, when it was still pretty cool).
The pic isn't on the website anymore, but their lobby, when that's all you see, leads you to believe this is a pretty modern hotel. Except that the lobby and entrance area are practically brand-new (if not actually) and nicely done up. It's not a hotel, it's a motel -- and it's probably 40 to 50 years old. To be fair, the rooms were clean and redone, but it was photo trickery to be sure.

Overall I like what oyster.com does but I have mixed feelings here.
Most of us know the "attractive, smiling people" shots are pure marketing idealism. And I take no issue with the spruced-up, glamorous lighting.
But yeah, the characterizations of endless, clean and unpopulated beaches are akin to a ripoff, as are the cropping and perspective changes meant to hide obvious ugly architectural aspects.

That begs the old politically incorrect joke:
"Why do women make bad Mechanical Engineers ?"
"Because they are told regularly that five inches is actually a foot !"

Those are pretty cool.
Seaweed on the beach: That could happen on any beach.
