I love hummingbirds! From July to early October there are about a dozen swarming around my backyard.

The only ones I've ever touched are a youngster a cat caught a few years ago & a female that got trapped on my back porch last fall. I waited until she went to sleep then grabbed her off the perch & set her free.

I saw a couple of them working a tree across the street from my work place on Kearny St. on Tuesday. Its been a bit warm here and there's a bloom going on.

Hummingbirds are the best thing about living in America...speaking as someone who is not a political or war refugee.

We get them year round in Portland. Hummingbirds in the snow seem misplaced, but they still come.
