All of a sudden an employee walks out of a back door, and a few people around him cheer and clap.
Then as he walks slowly thru the store, there is a wave of sound as all of the employees join in, cheering and clapping, the sound was deafening.
So I cheered and clapped, too...then I asked a worker what was going on.
It was his last day of employment.
Great fun.

I've worked with people where we all did that too when they left, but we usually waiting until they got into their car and drove off.

When I left one place they strung string at top of my cube, over the work area, and got new $1 bills and taped them to the strings. Makes you want to stop working a LOT! (Many times/frequently)

Back in November, my 2 sons and I walked into Chicago's Michigan Ave store and the same thing happened. At first I thought I was about to run into some celeb that just preformed but it was just the last day for one of their employees. We thought it was a very nice send off.

On Friday of my first week on the job at Apple Support in Austin ('93), around 4PM they rolled in a bunch of kegs, coolers full of beer, and frozen margarita machines. I thought I'd found the Promised Land.
Then the next week, when no beer was in sight, I found out that the previous Friday was the end of the fiscal year...

Once my new boss told me that people who worked there were of two minds when my predecessor left: some were happy and others were ecstatic.
