Texas Senate approves guns in college classrooms

Couldn't pass it on its own, so they attached it to the higher education funding bill.

Not law, yet. The TX House has to weigh in.

I carried a gun in my backpack in college. Unloaded. In a case. With no ammo. When I was going from class directly to shooting practice. In the 1970's.

In fairness, i believe the proposed Texas legislation would allow permitted gun owners to carry concealed, loaded weapons on their persons in the classroom.

So they have approved a bill that (statistically) would most likely allow Texans to shoot (perhaps accidently ) fellows Texans ?

What were the arguments against it ?
