Glad you spent money in MI but didn't the fuel costs for a 98 mile round trip plus your time offset any savings on the MBP?

Thanks everyone. This morning I was able to get a space opened up on my desk for it and to set it up, then had to go grocery shopping. Since returning I've been downloading and installing software updates. It's times like this I wish we had internet that was faster than AT&T's lowend DSL.

I'd been waffling between it, the iMac and the Mac mini, finally decided I wanted the MacBook Pro whether or not I needed the portability or not. colonel panic wrote: Been hearing a lot about heat issues and fan noise with the new 13" MacBook Pros. Is yours running hot? So far I haven't down anything that would require it to "work up a sweat". The only heat I've felt is was this morning the left palm rest area was warm from the battery charging. Haven't heard a fan yet (although I'm sure they must be running) and the only sound other than the startup chime is the Super Drive when it cycles with a restart. As for time, the Mrs. and I consider it to be a freebie, plus it was a kind of spur of the moment road trip thing, I figured if I'd ordered it online I'd change my mind before it shipped and not get it. It was $200 off Apple MSRP, so even accounting for Michigan sales tax of $60 and the gas it was still a better price than most (all) internet resellers. Except for a couple of miles here at home the entire trip is on I-75 and the only negative either of us had with the trip was the road construction was worse than we thought it would be, we had a couple of stretches of near parking lot speeds, ;( richorlin wrote: I bought the same one and I'm not having any heat/fan issues with it. I've also read some mentions of them running hotter, this AnandTech review mentions it (if I'm remembering correctly) and it comes up from time to time over on the MacRumors forums. |
