My mother-in-law is using a hand me down HP laptop and the brick just died. I am tasked with finding a replacement. I see lots of options online, but none inspire much confidence in receiving a working unit quickly at a fair cost. All that I've looked at look like fly-by-night operations (cheap looking websites, poor customer reviews, 'F' ratings from the BBB).
Any recommendations?

Alright, I went with eBay.
I usually try to avoid that. The sellers there don't normally give me the warm fuzzies either. Plus, I don't like how you have to commit to buy before you are presented with the full shipping and payment options. I did see links to some of that info on the product's page, but I think it should be prominently displayed, and the 'commit to buy' shouldn't happen until you actually confirm payment.
