kensington netbook power adapter TOO HOT - anyone else experience this?
#1
I have a Kensington Netbook Power Adapter that I'm using with my HP Mini 311 hackintosh and its HOT. Is this normal? Seems to me that there should be little heat, if any.

got one that powers a Cisco E2000 router & also charges my phone via USB.
Running 24/7 for many months, barely warm.

hm, i suspect that i'm trying to suck 3.5A through a 2.5A power adapter.

who wants to speculate about the damage that might be causing the power adapter?

The voltage regulator (IC or power transistor) is taking a beating.
Its morale will not improve with continued beating.

If it is too hot to touch, it is running dangerously (risk of metldown/fire/electric shock).

Get a 5A rated adaptor--it will run warm, not hot.
