Denon 5.1 Channel A/V Surround Receiver With HDMI - Refurbished (AVR1312-REF)

www.macmall.com/p/Denon-Consumer-Electronics/product~dpno~8817863~pdp.gieeece?store=macmall&source=MWB34607&email=dpxpoz@sbcglobal.net&hq_e=el&hq_m=1784196&hq_l=9&hq_v=e42e1ebd7f

Been thinking of a new receiver to replace our Pioneer 30W stereo from the '80's. Specs look decent. Doesn't bother me it's a refurb nor do I need it specifically for home theater.

Sorry, can't get the website to display as a link.

That's their cheap one--better off buying something better used on ebay or craigslist, IMHO.

Sure you want to pay that much?

A quick search turns up a better price

http://www.jr.com/denon/pe/DNN_AVR1312_hy_RB/

Okay, it's only $5 cheaper, but hey, this is macresource forums, being pathologically cheap is our raison d'etre.

Update: if you don't plan to use it as a home theater A/V receiver...why are you interested in a home theater A/V receiver? Just to use as a stereo system?

Would personally rather deal with jr than macmall in a problem/return situation. But I'd pass due to 90 day mfg warranty. Used to be great forums at Audioreview where you could get the dirt but no more.

Yes, just a stereo. It seems everything is sold as a home theater system these days.
