Help me find a phone, BUT...
#1
I would like an Android phone. I know, let the abuse begin! However, I am used to Android now and the ease of moving over contacts, etc., is the reasoning here. Also, I like a bigger screen for these old eyes, and I don't want to spend, say, more than $150; yes, a used phone is my plan.
I've had issues with downloads and recently with Square where I have an incompatibility issue with my HTC Incredible (which Square support is trying to fix) so I'm thinking I should look for a phone with v4 (Ice Cream Sandwich). What I find is either an older phone like Droid 2 or X but they're still on Gingerbread-my 3+ year old Incredible is at 2.3.4 which is the latest update that will work on my phone. But when I look at something with v4 they are all still sold by providers that I need to sign up for a plan to get a price break; otherwise I have to pay full price.
So am I worrying too much about Gingerbread being outdated? What choices are there out there that will work for me? I am also on PagePlus so I would look at a Verizon phone and was looking at a Droid X ($140 at Amazon). I know from the forum about unlocking and jailbreaking phones but honestly, since it hasn't ever concerned me, I am ignorant of those procedures and if there are phones you all might recommending that would need those procedures I am open to doing it but would need walking thru said procedures and it would need to work on PP.
Thanx for your indulgence!

Galaxy S III? I have limited experience with Andriod, a few months, for work. Not as polished as iOS. I would have gotten used to it.

That would be nice but it's way more than $150. But, seeing what's out there, I may go to $200 as my limit.

The HTC Droid DNA is the archetype next gen android phone. I would look for either that model or a related one from Motorola or Samsung.

Did you check ebay for used previous gen phones like a Droid RAZR or HTC Rezound? I would think you could find something in your price range.

Yes but I'm not registered on eBay and frankly, I'd like to hold it in my hand to inspect it and not have to deal with trying to return it if there are issues. I'll check into it, tho. In the past I registered with eBay and one time I tried to log on and got the message that I couldn't log on and never could after that. It was a long time ago and I don't remember what the issue was but I never tried to get back on.
I'll maybe try to sign up again and see what happens. I got my last phone off craigslist and I'll look there to.
