I enjoy fishing in fresh water but I haven't done that in about two years and I never catch large fish.
I have never been ocean fishing (well, I did fish once ot twice in the Black Sea but that ain't Ocean) and I saw this boat leaving off the cost of New Jersey (Point Pleasant) and they have 4 hour trips (8 AM to 12:30 PM and 2 PM till 6:30 PM) and these are for fluke. They cost $40 (+$% to rent the rod).
There is a night trip, 7 PM till about 1 AM. This is for Blue Fish and it costs $60 (+$5).
Which one should I try? I just want to try something different. Thanks

bluefish is an absolutely marvelous fish to eat, but it must be prepared correctly (true with most fish, but really quite true in this case). I recommend a hot grill, treat it like a steak. if you don't prepare it correctly, it's fat will overpower you.

A fluke is basically a flounder.
My son-in-law goes on those fishing boats and caught a big one. We had it on July 4, on spits with weggies and some soy sauce marinade before hand. Delicious. He left me a pound or more in the freezer.
Newt, I hope you didn't flounder around, fishing for that pun.

Blue fish is an oily fish, I'd go for the fluke.

Blue fish is SO good - living on the left coast now, I really miss it! But it is a strong flavored fish, so unless you like fishy fish, fluke might be a better choice.

Ahh... I remember staying at a youth hostel on Nantucket Island back in the 70s. It was right on the beach and you could catch huge Bluefish in the surf right before sunset... at which point we already had the grill going and the beer cold, and we'd toss these 3-lb filets on and squeeze a couple of lemons over them while they were crackling.
And then we'd call out to anyone who was walking down the beach to come help us eat all this fish!
Mmm...
